Parenting Secrets workshop is facilitated by Dr. Aruna Jagdish, a pediatrician, a mother, and a grandmother. Aruna has been in pediatric practice for over 30 years and her outlook on health, well-being and relationships follows a holistic approach.
The idea of this workshop was seeded by the numerous interactions that Aruna had with children and parents in her capacity as a pediatrician. Informal discussions led to insightful parenting techniques, which formed the foundation and the inspiration of Parenting Secrets.
Sessions with emphasis on Positive Parenting Techniques and also highlighting important and pertinent points specific to toddlers on routine care like growth, nutrition and immunisation. There will be a special bonus session by Dr. Jagdish Chinnappa on brain development.

The module about modelling behaviour was the one that I took the most away from. It helped me understand that my daughter is observing me at all times, how she absorbs and interprets these reactions, and how I could change my reactions to everyday events in order to present her with a positive way of dealing with different emotions. Practising the methods taught in the workshop has made my relationship with my 3-year-old daughter less tenuous since I’m able to now deal with most of her terrible twos (or threes) tantrums, stubbornness and bad behaviour with more fairness, balance and confidence. I’ve also seen a huge change in my daughter- she seems to be getting better at understanding her own emotions which have made her more independent and assertive (in a good way). Most of the information presented in the workshop are things we are sort of aware of already, but the way it’s presented here guides you on how to actually implement this information in your everyday life. The conversations with the other moms and the sense of community that resulted from the conversations was also a really valuable experience for me. All in all, I only wish that I had participated in this workshop earlier, but I’m happy I got the opportunity now because it’s never too late.
